Further development of working methods, coporate culture and organizational form

Every organization is shaped by striking a balance between the interests of external and internal stakeholders. This stakeholder system is currently experiencing some extreme challenges:

  1. Employees are demanding to be treated as equals and more personal development

When seeking an employer, candidates are selecting companies that make a meaningful contribution to social issues (employer branding).

  2. The VUCA world of Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity requires flexible use of the most suitable form of work.

Today, it is clear that agile structures, tools and attitudes deliver better results in complex work environments. In contrast, hierarchical “waterfall” organizational systems deliver a higher performance for complicated but analysable tasks.  (cf. Dave Snowden).

  3. Companies are investing in culture.

Based on the “Culture eats strategy for breakfast” experience, it has become clear that investing in organizational change only makes sense if we also develop corporate culture – while knowing full well that this will be a more protracted and cost-intensive, yet indispensable and worthwhile process.

  4. Environmental costs are being incorporated into the production process – e.g. as a result of rapidly increasing carbon pricing.

In the future, social and ecological responsibility will also have to be assumed along the supply chains and for product- and service-life cycles. In addition, many customers and employees already want companies to assume this responsibility today. For this reason, companies such as Apple and Google are moving in precisely in this direction by making promises designed to attract attention.

  5. Virtualization of the working world:

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the need to perform as many activities as possible remotely, the digitization of work has been picking up tremendous speed.
